Rose is saved from Sorey's fate, and lives long enough to raise the next shepherd. The ending sequence covers everything it doesn't straight up tell you. They literally spoil the ending to their own game if you pay attention to the dialogue and the side skits. It was somewhat left open, which gives me false hope there'll be a sequel. Zestiria just straight up stops you from progressing. Other titles had ways of expressing your mediocrity, like giving you negative grade. Zestiria is unusually hard for a Tales title. infuriating? I mean, I play MMORPG's for fun and I remember when Blizzard would troll the community in World Of Warcraft by giving them fantastic raid gear and then building fights for raids that require you to use nerfed gear because it has a resistance stat you need to survive a boss mechanic, but it's a bit weird to see it in a Tales title. ![]() Which means the first, and only gear and level check in the entire game is the last form of the last boss. It's very possible to find yourself in a situation where your only option is to go to your most recent save and grind. This all culminates in a need to have some functional knowledge of pretty much everything in the combat system to ensure you can make it. Even on the lowest difficulty which is supposed to be for people who don't have the hang of things. It isn't noticeable if you've been a fairly religious combatant for enemy minions, but other than the first time, every time the boss has his windup, if you don't deal sufficient damage, you lose. I'd love that, but I'm fairly sure majority of the Tales community would disagree with me on that. Maybe cause I played Hearts R last? The ending was different, in a goody two-shoes "sacrifice yourself for the world" kind of way. Was a breath of fresh air, which wasn't required for me personally but it was nonetheless. ![]() Now for the actual story side, I kind of liked how there was nothing addressed one way or another as far as romantic interests go. (inb4 he'll delete me on my 2nd playthrough on Intense) ![]() Kittybeard derped on me, but it was really disappointing as my first playthrough. Now granted, I've read multiple threads and comments from people saying they were having a lot of trouble with it even on lower difficulties. Considering how epic Tales games have their final boss battles, and how they nail them, this just had me go ". Mickboy was busting some ninja moves in the back of the arena, couldn't see cause of the camera angle, and I was just under his chin smacking away. Kittybeard into submission without him dealing any damage to my party or me. The only thing that bugged me about the ending was the actual boss fight.
